New Size Treescapes

June 17th, 2009

“Into The Mist”

8″ x 8″ Oil on Canvas

I have been working on a new series of treescapes that are much smaller than what I have done before. They are not quite as small as the pastel treescapes but much smaller than any of my previous treescape oil paintings. When I find a suitable frame for this series I will post it on the site.

White Roses

October 16th, 2008

6″x8″ Oil on Raymar canvas panel SOLD

Painting is hard work. This little guy took almost an entire day. They don’t normally take that long but I just kept getting too much contrast between the lights and darks within the roses. If I had simply thought through the process and focused more on squinting and comparing I would have finished the painting quicker. The problem was that I was “thinking” value change but I was “seeing” color change. Once I painted what I “saw” it all came together!

Slow Week

October 13th, 2008

I have a show here in town at the end of the week so it is doubtful much painting will get done.  I’ll have to put on my “framer” hat and get things ready for display.  Since the paintings I did last week are all going to the show they will not be available for sale but I will post the images once I get them photographed.  For those of you who have been here before you might want to take a look at my new page over on the left that shows my studio space.  Have a great week!

Orange Slices

October 6th, 2008

Over the years orange slices have been one of my favorite things to add as a point of interest in larger still life paintings. They provide deep colors and great contrast. In this painting they become the focal point rather than just a point of interest.

The Paintings of The Week

October 3rd, 2008

I’m finding it much easier to do a painting every day than it is to post a painting everyday. So it may seem that I haven’t been working but here is the proof that I have. Most of these paintings will be reserved for my two upcoming shows. If you fall in love with one of these and you would like to deprive one of my shows a painting please contact me. “Strong” is the only painting I’m putting up for bidding this week.
